Our New Cruising Chute

We finally got around to ordering a cruising chute and after some trials and tribulations in getting it put together we set off for a sail and managed to launch it on our way up the Southampton Water back to Town Quay where we were berthed for the Boat Show.

Eastbourne meets the Scallywags

We departed Brighton in rather a messy manner. The wind blew us off course as we were leaving the berth and we needed help from our German sailor neighbours to get us back on track.
However we then had a perfect sail all the way to Eastbourne. The course I had planned we followed in near perfect manner and arrived in the time we had planned. Tides turned off Beachy Head just as expected.
The wind was a nice F3 or F4 and we were on a broad reach all the way.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the scenery poetic.

HHSC Round the island Cruise

Our June sailing trip started by us joining the HHSC Round the Island Cruise. First leg was us sailing toYarmouth on the Friday afternoon.

We left as soon as the boat floated at 2.35pm. We arrived 4 hours later at around 6.30pm and entered the harbour with Dave & Sue Ellis (Close Encounter) and the other Legend 36 Quixotic Fantasy, owned by Paul Benstead.

We were soon joined by the others (Andrew and Anne Knight, Paul and Mandy, Mark and Mandy) in their boats sailing from Hill Head harbour.

We all went for a meal in the Kings Head and then settled down to a good nights sleep.

The Boys Trip 2014

The 3 Musketeers joined by retired Henley Management College Corporate Trainer and Hill Head Sailing Club colleague the right honourable Mr Jonathan Davies.

We spent the first day on a good sail to Yarmouth. The video starts with us leaving Yarmouth to get through Hurst Point before the tide turns on a trip to Poole. It finishes with the trip back, when we went through a storm, as we came back into the Solent.

And some off the cuff pictures of the crew.

Steve just silent.

Jonathan in silent prayer!
